The Sunflowers

The+Sunflowers
Ms. Levine

The yellow sunflowers,

Glistening under the Sun.

As every one of them grows taller,

So do the roots under them.

They stand tall and mighty under the extreme weather,

Whether it is night or day.

The bees and butterflies and bugs

Land on their petals to take the nectar and leave.

They watch as the animals walk past them,

Looking for food every day.

All happens until autumn comes.

The first sunflower starts to wither.

Then another: Until all fall to the ground.

The leaves turn from green to many colors.

The strong-cold breeze tells all the plants and trees

Winter is coming.

A few weeks later,

The trees have lost their leaves

The snow coats the grass.

The sunflowers hide underground.

Everything is cold.

Until the sun shines so bright,

The snow starts melting.

A light warm breeze tells the nature

Spring is coming

The grass starts to come up.

The tulips and roses start to grow.

The fresh green leaves appear.

As the animals come from the long sleep,

They start to find food.

To stop the grumbling of their stomachs.

Finally, in August,

The first little leaf sprouts from the ground.

Then another,

After a few days, a little yellow petal appears.

The bright ones have returned!

The mighty sunflowers stand tall.

Under the shining Sun

What a beautiful sight to see.
